Thread Lift and Non-Surgical Face Lifting

Why should you prefer a non-surgical facelift?
One of the biggest problems that starts to affect our facial area in our thirties is sagging skin. For this problem, which until recently could only be treated with a surgical face lift, there are now alternative non-surgical treatment methods. With these methods, effective results can be achieved in a short time, without the physical and psychological recovery process that surgery entails.
Which method do I prefer the most for non-surgical facelift with thread?
I have become familiar with products of various brands and properties that have been developed for the thread lift procedure in recent years. We can divide these materials that we use in lifting into two groups: Threads with polydiaxanone/polylactic acid structure that dissolve with time and permanent threads with silicone structure. In my own clinical practice, I mainly prefer the threads called 3D COG, which can dissolve and have a 360-degree awn structure in different directions. These threads are placed under the skin using flexible, blunt devices called cannulas and provide tension to the face and a volumizing effect. These threads begin to dissolve within 6 months, but maintain their effect for up to 2 years by stimulating collagen production.
Why do not I prefer permanent threads?
To be honest, I do not prefer permanent silicone threads in my clinical applications. As a physician who has experience with these threads, I can say that their efficacy is good, but it can be annoying that dimpling and shrinkage at the entry points into the skin remain for a long time after application and sometimes even permanently. With all thread applications there is a small risk of infection. In such a case, if the material is permanent, it must be removed, which unfortunately is not always easy in the facial area.
Is the procedure painful, how long does it last, and what is the return to work and social life afterwards?
The area to be treated is anesthetized with a local anesthetic in the form of a tunnel using a flexible cannula. The duration of the procedure is about 1 hour. After the procedure, the patient's face may show edema, asymmetry, dimpling, and shrinkage at the entry points of the threads for a few days. All these effects subside within 7-10 days. Our patients can go about their simple daily activities after the procedure and return to work after 1-2 days of rest at home. The most effective and natural appearance is obtained after 4 weeks, when the threads are fully placed in accordance with the facial mimic movements.
