“Jawline” is a term used to describe the side contour of the jaw.
The basic components of a beautiful jawline;
- A strong and pronounced lateral angle of the jaw,
- A well placed and pronounced jaw tip,
- Between these two protrusions is an uninterrupted, prominent jawline that is clearly set off from the neck.
Jawline filler is the alteration of the jawline for aesthetic purposes through the injection of fillers. It is essentially a camouflage procedure. Jawline fillers can be used to temporarily alter the jawline or asymmetries in the jawline can be temporarily concealed using this method.
How is jawline filler performed?
In comparison to other areas, jawline filler applications require a relatively large volume of filler material to be injected along the jawline contour. For example, while 1-2 milliliters are sufficient for lip fillers, we need to use an average of 3-6 cc of filler to change the jawline contour because we are working in a larger area. For patient comfort and safety, we perform jawline fillers under local anesthesia and sterile clinical conditions. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. Then, depending on the need, we first fill the lateral angle of the jaw and the tip of the jaw, and then improve the line between them with filler. During the application, we use flexible cannulas that glide in the tissue and do not damage the vascular/nerve structures.
What materials are used for filling the jawline?
The most commonly used material for jawline fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a dermal filler for the skin.
Who is suitable for jawline filler application?
The best candidates for jawline fillers are healthy individuals under the age of 40 with a slight developmental delay of the jawbone, but normal tooth position. When applying jawline fillers, excessive use should be avoided, especially in women, as too much definition of the jaw angles can give a masculine expression.
What is the return to work and social life like after jawline fillers?
Edema and mild bruising may occur a few days after the procedure. After the procedure, our patients can return to their normal daily routine activities and work, but sports activities should be suspended for a few days.
